For years, most of our Create Your Own (CYO) orders have come in through Facebook messages, and to be totally honest… that’s why it’s taken us this long to build a website. We didn’t want to lose that proper personal touch that makes us Proper Mint. We think we’ve finally cracked it and come up with a CYO process that keeps things simple, personal, and fun (without needing to decipher a message thread the length of War and Peace).
You’re on the listing for a tote bag with wording which you want us to work our PMP magic on to turn it into a great design. We’ve tried to add listings for every possibility so if this isn’t what you want just find the closest starting point and we can take it from there e.g. a tshirt. If you want just plain words without any design element added or if you’re wanting a logo or photo pop over to one of those listings instead. Same goes for if you’re wanting something other than a tote bag. If you can’t find a good starting point just drop us a message and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction. The design is printed on one side, if you want double sided contact us for a price.
Choose your options
You can choose your tote bag style and colour from the drop down box.
Standard Tote bags are 100% cotton measuring 38 x 42cm with a 10 litre capacity which in plain English means it’s your standard size tote/shopping bag. Perfect for popping to the shops.
Premium Tote bags are a heavier 100% cotton canvas measuring 39 x 39 x 12 cm with an 18 litre capacity. Inside it features a small zipped pocket to keep your keys, phone or purse as well as an elasticated side pocket which is great to stop your water bottle rolling all over. Great for work or college.
Oversized Tote bags are 100% cotton measuring 40 x 58 x 15 cm with an 34 litre capacity. Lightweight so can be packed away easily making it perfect for taking on holiday to fit all your beach accessories in.
Tell us what you want
CYO listings have two boxes for you to fill in – one for any wording, and one for the design details.
We’ve split them so we can get the text exactly right – whether it’s a name, a quote, or something wildly inappropriate your mate said once and now it’s going on a tshirt for their birthday. Please double-check your spelling and grammar in the wording box – we’ll copy it exactly as you’ve typed it, typos and all!
The design box is your space to tell us what matters to you.
We can add little touches to the design to make it fancy such as mixing fonts and decorations like stars etc or we can just do plain wording. Don’t worry – you don’t need to be creative (that’s our job) just give us a few pointers to work with. Maybe you want the design in a certain colour, maybe you just want it sparkly as heck. Either way – stick it in the box. Words like bold, swirly, cute, retro, or even “like something a cool nan would wear” all help us get a feel for the style you’re after. Each CYO listing has photos to help give you some inspiration on how to describe your idea. Wanting pics or logos? We can add simple silhouette style shapes to the design, e.g. a beer glass, but if you’re wanting a detailed and/or colour image then you need to pop over to our other listing.
We create a mock-up
Once your order is in, we’ll work our Proper Mint magic and send you a visual mock-up to approve before anything goes to print. We aim to do this within 48 hours. It’s important that you keep an eye out for the Mock Up Approval email and reply to it as soon as possible. This is your chance to tweak, change, or add something before the real thing gets made. Most of our customers love the first mock-up (or only need a tiny tweak, like a font colour change). But if – by some small miracle – you’re still not happy after a couple of changes, no worries, you can cancel your order and we’ll refund you. Simple as that.

Shipping info
All of our tshirts are sent via Royal Mail tracked within 7 working days (Monday to Friday) of the design being approved. We process orders in line with our promise but unfortunately we can’t control the actual delivery times, so please don’t shout at us if Postman Pat is delayed….it’s better than Evri throwing it in your hedges.
